Schools are facing a substitute teacher crisis. These districts are getting creative to fix it.

As the pandemic exacerbates chronic staffing shortages in the country's schools, many districts are reporting a daily struggle to find substitutes when teachers are absent because of Covid-19 or for other reasons.

To stay open and keep students in the classroom, some schools are offering bonuses and tapping local businesses to lure in substitute teachers, in some cases lowering the bar on qualifications.
