Secret payment: The Orleans Parish School Board agreed to pay NOLA Public Schools Superintendent Avis Williams $335,000 to step down early as the system reels from a multi-million dollar accounting error that occurred on her watch. The payment, Marie Fazio reports, was supposed to be kept secret.
Benefits vote: The U.S. Senate will vote on whether to repeal two provisions that lower or eliminate Social Security benefits for many former public employees who have paid into the system, including thousands who live in Louisiana. Mark Ballard has the story.
Bird flu: Louisiana has its first confirmed case of a person contracting bird flu. Emily Woodruff has the details.
