Good morning Voornaam

It's Christmas Eve - and while we're hoping Santa brings you what you've wished for tomorrow, today we can bring you a gift in the form of the latest news - and there is plenty to report on, despite it being the festive period.

Firstly, we have an exclusive from Transport Correspondent Alastair Dalton, who reveals the latest passenger satisfaction results for ScotRail services - and it doesn't make for welcome reading for the nationalised train operator.

Ahead of the King's Christmas message tomorrow, Education Correspondent Calum Ross brings you a slightly quirkier tale. One of the former classmates of Charles at Gordonstoun, Scottish businessman Graham Hadley, has come to the defence of the King, claiming the “Colditz in kilts” phrase long attributed to His Majesty about the Scottish private school is a "complete fabrication".

It's a fascinating read as you're hopefully curled up in bed with a cup of coffee or tea - read more here

Now on the trivia front. Yesterday we asked: What time is the King's message - and the Queen's speech before him - normally broadcast on Christmas Day?

The answer is: 3pm.

We'll take a day off from delivering you this regular newsletter tomorrow, but be back on Boxing Day with all the very latest. In the meantime, we wish you a very Merry Christmas.

From,

The team at The Scotsman
