Behind Maria Hewitt's warm smile, there is genuine heartbreak.

She lost her husband of 17 years, John, to coronavirus just eight months ago. 

The mum, from Paisley, is now training as a vaccinator to protect other people from the virus.

Margaret Ferrier appears in Court

The former SNP MP has appeared in court accused of ignoring coronavirus rules by travelling between Glasgow and London last September. 

Ms Ferrier allegedly had Covid symptoms and made the trip by train.
