Screen International invites you to a virtual screening for the film Nafi's Father

Mainland Africa’s most westerly country only submitted to the Oscars for the first time in 2018 with Alain Gomis’ Félicité, but is on something of a roll with both that and its second entry - Mati Diop’s Atlantics last year - making the January shortlist.

Attempting to go one better is this drama about extremism, centred on the fight between an Imam and his powerful brother over their children’s marriage.

The film debuted at Locarno in 2019, going on to play festivals including Göteborg and Rotterdam. It is the debut directorial film of cinematographer and NYU graduate Dia.

Screen International has partnered with film market platform Archipel Market on an exclusive series of screenings focused on the international feature awards race.
