When pruning a rose bush or when taking cuttings for the home or rooting, the cuts should be sealed. A white waterproof glue should work well. Sealing is to prevent access of the rose cane borer. This insect can cause much damage to the plant. My advice is to seal all cuts whether made during borer season or not.
Create a Humid Environment for Plants

Place two same sized containers together with plant inside to increase humidity for tropical plants. This is a thrifty method instead of buying a humidifier. Also works for plants that you may purchase online and came from the mail - to help the plants adjust and recover from the transport!

With just a few garden supplies, you can make this cute hanging envelope planter. Fill this planter with some plant cuttings and it will look nice in your yard! It is the perfect planter to make if you are limited on space in your yard and this planter will not cost much if you have most of the supplies already like I did!

Our spring cleaning and repairs were temporarily interrupted when we discovered two robins making a nest outside our back door. They found our light fixture to be the perfect place. They got all sorts of material to make the base of the nest, including some shredded pieces of tarp that my son missed when cleaning up.
Painted Pinecone as Faux Succulent

I made a small faux succulent out of a green painted pinecone. I also made a planter that fit it just right out of a plastic scoop. When the pinecone is painted green and dried, it looks like a succulent plant in a little planter. I placed it in my garden, and it looks adorable!

You can easily make a plant holder from scrap wood you have laying around from other projects! This holder was made from a piece of scrap of 2x4. You simply cut the piece to your desired length, use a hole saw to create the hole for your plants, and you're done!
Especially when planting tomatoes, eggshells can really help your plants, to provide nutrients. There is in fact a specific tomato ailment (blossom end rot) that can be cured by supplementing the soil with calcium AKA eggshells.
