Arlene Foster, the first minister, revealed on Friday that AstraZeneca fear that the new Northern Ireland Protocol could eventually have an impact on medicine supplies here. There is a grace period of a year over checks on medicines moving from Great Britain to Northern Ireland under post-Brexit arrangements. However, Mrs Foster warned following her talks with AstraZeneca that once this grace period ends this time next year, there could be a real issue with supply. The Department of Health has revealed that another 22 people who had tested positive for coronavirus have died inside the last 24 hours. Eight of these deaths took place within the Newry, Mourne and Council area. In addition, another 669 people tested positive for the virus over the last 24 hours, a 13 per cent increase on the previous day. Alistair Bushe Editor
