Every so often, stories come out about horrific grifters and con artists that use ridiculous lies to make money off their victims. This one from Somerset, Massachusetts might take the cake. Over the course of a month, a local psychic tricked a mother into handing over $70,000 in exchange for “healing her daughter of demonic possession.” The soothsayer apparently detected deep evil inside the innocent 10 year old girl, and demanded cash and household objects like towels and bedding to remove “the demon.” All this was initially sparked after the mother went in for a simple palm reading, but since she wasn’t a psychic, there wasn’t any way she could have predicted this would happen. Thankfully, she made the right call of visiting the police. No word on whether the psychic can predict when her sentence will end.

For your (and your wallet’s) safety, it’s better to find enjoyment in stage magic, not psychics.
