INDUSTRY NEWS: Informa Markets has appointed Mark Temple-Smith as chief operating officer. Temple-Smith has over 20 years of experience in the international exhibitions industry, most recently as president of the Informa Markets Fashion portfolio. Additionally, Nancy Walsh was named president of the fashion business. Walsh will work with brands such as Magic, Coterie, Project, and Project Womens. Walsh joins the company from event design and delivery firm Freeman, where previously Walsh held the position of senior vice president of brand experience. ATLANTA: Taking place outside of New York for the first time, the 28th edition of Gift for Life’s annual fund-raiser, Party for Life, will be held January 15 at the Fernbank Museum. Interior designer Thom Filicia will serve as celebrity honorary chair of the event, while special recognition will be given to Anne McGilvray, founder of Anne McGilvray & Company, a sales agency with eight permanent showrooms around the country. LAS VEGAS: MGM Resorts International has appointed Stephanie Glanzer as senior vice president and chief sales officer. She has risen up the ranks of the company since joining it in 1998, serving most recently as vice president of sales strategy and operations. LOS ANGELES: “Christmasland” is slated to take place December 15 at the Fig House. Described as “an immersive holiday movie experience” for fans of “cheesy network Christmas flicks,” the daylong pop-up offers a gingerbread-decorating competition, a wreath-making workshop, holiday mixology classes, and a panel including Hallmark actress Nikki DeLoach and writer Tracy Andreen. A portion of proceeds benefit Create Now, which empowers youth through art, education, and mentoring.
