NATIONAL: The Global Down Syndrome Foundation will host its Be Beautiful Be Yourself Fashion Show virtually on Nov. 13. The show is one of the largest fundraisers for Down syndrome research and will feature a performance from Grammy Award-winning artist Sara Bareilles, while pro football Hall of Fame inductee and general manager of the San Francisco 49ers John Lynch will receive the Quincy Jones Exceptional Advocacy Award alongside Peruvian advocate and politician Bryan Russell Mujica. There are 26 different models with Down syndrome walking in this year's show; tickets are $25. CHARLOTTE, NC: The Charlotte Convention Center will hold its ribbon-cutting ceremony in honor of the building's reopening and $126.9 million expansion on Oct. 21. Guests will have access to the new over-street walkway and SKYLINE public art installation. Charlotte mayor Vi Lyles, SKYLINE artist Susan Narduli and Charlotte Regional Visitors Authority CEO Tom Murray will be in attendance. INDIAN WELLS, CALIF: Miramonte Resort and Spa is currently undergoing a property-wide renovation and will reopen as a reimagined Mediterranean retreat in January 2022. Some highlights include more than 35,000 square feet of meeting and event space indoors and outdoors, plus 215 guest rooms and suites, spa treatments and wellness options, and new culinary experiences. LOS ANGELES: Vulture Festival is returning for its eighth year from Nov. 13-14. The pop-culture event features talks with actors, film screenings, singalongs and plenty of surprises; this year’s lineup includes Issa Rae, Elle Fanning, Nicholas Hoult, Mira Sorvino and more. Tickets are between $25 and $40 and include access to a poolside lounge party. WASHINGTON, DC: The National Cherry Blossom Festival, sponsored by Chase, will hold its tree-planting ceremony in Oxon Run Park at 9 a.m. on Oct. 22. Organizers aim to plant at least 30 trees in honor of the first 30 children who received a badge through the festival's Blossom Kids program.
