Seedstock Directory Makes Finding Genetics Easier

Seedstock operations are the heart of the cattle business and BEEF^® magazine has taken a leadership position in identifying and promoting genetics suppliers in the United States. In addition to the Seedstock 100 list of the largest seedstock operations based on the number of bulls sold, BEEF^® magazine offers the Seedstock Directory. These operations represent breeders of all sizes from all corners of the country.

Several factors go into the success of a seedstock operation. Integrity, quality, service and location are among the reasons cow-calf producers select their genetics supplier. While most of these characteristics can be found in any business, people in the cattle business like to know who they’re dealing with. So what types of operations are on our Seedstock Directory? The listing is diverse and each one has an interesting story.

Romans Ranches Charolais is one of those operations that caught our eye. They sell 120 Charolais bulls at their production sale every year in March. They are located in the high desert country of Westfall, Ore. Their bulls are raised on the range and they are performance and feed efficiency tested through a GrowSafe system in Grand View, Idaho. They are proud of the caliber of cattle that they bring to cattlemen.
