| European Road Conference held in Dubrovnik DUBROVNIK (Croatia), October 24 - The city Dubrovnik in Croatia hosted a highly successful gathering of 500 transport stakeholders on October 22-24 to deepen the understanding of regional mobility challenges and achieve consensus on key policy, investment, and planning measures. Held at the invitation of key representative organizations, the Conference was formally opened by H.E Oleg Butković, Minister of the Sea, Transport & Infrastructure, Republic of Croatia in the presence of ministers of transport and senior road agency executives from Montenegro, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Albania, Bulgaria and Serbia. Representatives of SEETO Secretariat also participated in the Conference. SEETO General Manager, Mr. Dejan Lasica participated in Successful Corridor Strategies session and gave presentation about Transport Infrastructure and Intermodality within SEETO region. Ms. Liljana Cela, SEETO Information Resource Manager also participated in the Conference and gave presentation about Connectivity Reform Measures final results in Road Safety, while Ms. Nerejda Hoxha, SEETO Transport Planning Manager informed about Road Asset Management in Western Balkans. |

| IPA Regional workshop Budapest: "New challenges for railway authorities of the Western Balkans" BUDAPEST (Hungary), October 16 - IPA Regional workshop took place in Budapest focusing on the main objectives which were cleaning up of national rules and issues related to the Transport Community Treaty (TCT) and SEETO, the South East Europe Transport Observatory. One of the welcoming speeches gave Mr. Dejan Lasica, General Manager of the SEETO Secretariat. During the meeting, he explained the current situation regarding the rail strategy for the Western Balkans and current trends in passenger and rail freight. Mr. Nedim Begovic, SEETO Transport Planning Manager explained the main investment need and presented the Vienna Summit CRM Management Plan, covering market opening and rail freight corridors (operational side). |

| 1st Joint Conference – Fora of the Adriatic and Ionian Chambers of Commerce, Cities and Universities held in Split SPLIT (Croatia), October 16-18 - The Forum of the Adriatic and Ionian Chambers of Commerce, Forum of the Cities and Uniadrion joinly organized the 1st Joint Annual Conference that took place from the 16th till the 18th of October 2018 in Split, Croatia. The event, which saw the involvement of over 300 participants and 120 institutions from the 8 countries of the MacroRegion, is part of the activities of the AI-NURECC initiative. Mr. Mate Gjorgjievski represented SEETO at the Conference and held presentation about the current situation regarding ports in the SEETO and ADRION region and potential for development of intermodal links. |

| SUMMIT OF TRANSPORT MINISTERS OF CHINA AND 16 CEE COUNTRIES HELD IN BELGRADE BELGRADE (Serbia), October 16 - The third summit of the transport ministers of China and 16 countries of Central and Eastern Europe /CEE/, aimed at expanding the cooperation between the countries of the region and China and the development of regional infrastructure projects, has started in Belgrade on October the 15th. Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic opened the summit, emphasizing the importance of infrastructure integration of southeast and central Europe, which is of crucial importance for economic progress. | Closing workshop of the project “Construction of the Railway Joint Border Station between the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and Serbia“ SKOPJE (the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia), October 3 - Macedonia and Serbia will construct a joint railway station with common border customs and inspection services on the border crossing Tabanovce, a project worth 4.5 million euros (around 5. 1 million U.S. dollars), as local media reported. SEETO participated in the closing workshop of the project “Construction of the Railway Joint Border Station between the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and Serbia“ that took place on October 3 in Skopje. | | Turkey's Tasyapi signs 24 million euro road overhaul contract in Serbia BELGRADE (Serbia), October 29 - Turkish civil engineering company Tasyapi has signed a 24 million euro ($27.4 million) contract for the overhaul of the Novi Pazar-Tutin road in southern Serbia, according to the Serbian government. The Turkish company will draft the design and regulation projects and will also carry out the civil engineering works on the overhaul of the 20.5 km-long Novi Pazar-Tutin road, the Serbian government said in a statement. In May, Serbia's government said it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tasyapi for cooperation on road infrastructure projects. |

| Bechtel signs MoU for construction of 110 km motorway in Serbia BELGRADE (Serbia), October 16 – Serbia has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with US civil engineering group Bechtel for the construction of a motorway connecting European transport Corridors X and XI on the country's territory, the infrastructure ministry said. The investment in the construction of the motorway, which will link Cacak to Krusevac, will total 800 million euro ($927.6 million) and works are expected to start in 2019, the infrastructure ministry said in a statement. |

| Bosnia and Herzegovina's Serb Republic completes 402 million euro motorway project BANJA LUKA (Bosnia and Herzegovina), October 2 – Bosnia's Serb Republic said it completed a 402 million euro ($463 million) project for the construction of the 72 km-long Banja Luka-Doboj motorway. The president of the Serb Republic, Milorad Dodik, opened on October 2nd the 25-km long Drugovici-Prnjavor section, the last part of the Banja Luka-Doboj motorway, the Serb Republic government said in a statement. |

| Albania's A.N.K wins 161.5 million euro tender for construction of Milot-Balldre highway TIRANA (Albania), October 23 – Albanian construction company A.N.K. has won a 161.5 million euro ($185.6 million) tender for the construction and maintenance of a 17.3 km-long highway section linking Milot to Balldre, the country’s infrastructure ministry said. The contract provides for the construction of the new road in the northwestern part of the country and its maintenance for a period of 13 years, the infrastructure ministry said in a statement. The new road will also facilitate transport links with the northwestern part of Albania and neighbouring Montenegro. |

| Bosnia's Serb Republic signs motorway concession deal with Shandong BANJA LUKA (Bosnia and Herzegovina), October 4 – The government of Bosnia's Serb Republic said it signed a contract with China Shandong International Economic & Technical Cooperation Group to build and run the Banja Luka - Prijedor - Novi Grad motorway. The inking of the agreement opens the way for the Chinese company to pay the one-off fee for the concession, the Serb Republic government said in a statement. |

| Albania applies first-ever toll on highway to Kosovo TIRANA (Albania), September 17 – Albania's government imposed toll fees on the highway leading to Kosovo despite protests from opposition parties and the local population, local media reported. This is the first-ever toll fee applied in Albania. The regular toll fees on the 110-kilometre long highway are in the range from 2.5 euro for a motorcycle and 5 euro for cars to 22.5 euro for heavy trucks, Top Channel TV quoted government officials as saying. |
