There are 100 days to go until the deadline for filing your Self Assessment return online. But there’s no time like the present to complete your tax return.
You need to file your return by 31 January 2024. But filing your return early means you can find out how much you owe, and help you budget and plan for your payment. And if you’re due a refund, you can claim it back sooner.
If you’ve already sent us your return and paid, thank you. You don’t need to do anything else.

Protect your information
Criminals are great pretenders – they use emails, phone calls and texts to try and dupe people. If someone contacts you saying they’re from HMRC and wants you to transfer money urgently or give personal information, never let yourself be rushed.
Tax scams come in many forms. Some offer a rebate, others tell you that your tax details are out of date or threaten immediate arrest for tax evasion. Unexpected contacts like these should set alarm bells ringing, so take your time and search 'HMRC scams' for our advice on GOV.UK.
Never share your Government Gateway details. Someone using them could steal from you or make a fraudulent claim in your name.
