This new understanding of the physical damage to the brain and the time frame for recovery suggests athletes should not be cleared to play less than two weeks after a concussion and should probably be shelved much longer, said Alex Rauscher, an MRI scientist and Canada Research Chair in the department of pediatrics at the University of British Columbia. Fox 5 Atlanta Briana Lawson, 7, of Macon, faces a long road back, after a devastating Christmas Day car accident killed her older sister and left Briana with a severe brain injury. She spent two months at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, enduring six surgeries. There, therapists are using an unusual approach to help Lawson recover. READ MORE Brantford Expositor Terry Brown often can be seen walking his dog around Waterford, shovelling his sidewalk or planting flowers in his front flower bed. Living near the post office on Main Street, Brown greets people and chats with friends on the porch in warm weather. When I walk downtown, Brown and I often exchange greetings and sometimes chat.
