While we were out on our Hot Patrols this past Saturday, one young man’s need for water really highlighted our purpose. He was walking down Church Street with an empty 32-ounce plastic jug, when we flagged him down and asked if he could use some water. To our surprise, he said, “That’s exactly what I’m looking for.” He was on his way to the library so that he could fill his jug with water. We were able to give him several bottles, and he was so grateful. On his behalf, as well as many others who have expressed their thankfulness for our help, let me express their gratitude to you, our partners in this ministry. We are the hands and feet of this ministry, but you are the heart of our operation. Your contributions are what makes our efforts to help those in need possible. So far, 3,600 bottles of cold water have been distributed to the homeless in our community.
Getting ready for winter
Temperatures are still running in the 90’s, but we are starting to see signs of Fall as cooler temperatures and change in weather patterns are starting to emerge. Murfreesboro Rescue Mission will once again partner with Coldest Nights to help bring shelter during life-threatening temperatures. Last year we saw 2,700 individual nightly stays in the colder months. Your gifts help provide the following: Laundry service for clean sheets and blankets New blankets to replace those that are worn out Cleaning supplies to help with hygiene in living areas Supervision & security services to keep our residents safe
With the homeless population continuing to grow, we anticipate another potential record-breaking year. We appreciate your financial support as we anticipate the need will be just as great.

Charity Chopped 2018
We are just days away from our upcoming fundraising event aimed at helping those in need of food, clothing and shelter. Murfreesboro Rescue Mission, along with Amelia's Closet and Second Harvest Foodbank, will host the second annual Charity Chopped in the 'Boro event. Murfreesboro City Counselman Ronnie Martin will represent the Mission as chef, with Chef Alex Belew assisting him as Sous Chef. Mayor Shane McFarland will be on hand to help judge the competition.
