Welcome to the September 2021 newsletter. It’s hard to believe it’s been a year since I stepped into the role as president. At that time, Covid had caused a decline in members and guests and the future of the association looked bleak, but thankfully, due to the efforts of an amazing committee, we managed to keep things going through a very trying year. I’m happy to report it’s going from strength to strength. I’d like to say a big thank you to the outgoing committee who made my role easy over the last year. I’m looking forward to the next twelve months very much. Unfortunately, I’ll be stepping down as president, but I’m comforted to know that I’ll be leaving the association in good hands. There will be a new committee voted in at this week’s AGM, made up mostly of those who gave their time for free last year, so we can be sure there’s going to be another exciting twelve months ahead. I’ll still be hanging around, though. You don’t get rid of me that easy. This month, as well as the AGM, we’ll be having a mini book expo, so if you’re a fully paid up member and have a book you’d like to peddle, bring some copies along and let us know if you’d like a couple of minutes to market it on the mike. I hope to see you all on Saturday. Write on… Andy |

Our 2021 Annual General Meeting is on 18 September 2021. We will be hosting our AGM as part of the monthly meeting and this session will be jam-packed! Attendance is FREE this month for members and visitors. Hosted by former president, Gavin Fisher, the AGM is an essential event for every organisation, giving the members, the general public, and the committee an overview of the organisation's current directions, financial health, and confirms its purpose. It is also an opportunity to refresh the organisation through electing members into the committee. The committee can always use new members! We hope to make the AGM a positive experience where people go away committed to the organisation and its goals. Please arrive 10-15 minutes early to complete the entry process so we can start on time. If you are sick, please stay at home and get better quickly. |
