I gave my daughter a Slinky recently and told her to go to the stairs and play with it.

She walked down the stars, bobbing it up and down like a yo-yo. She had no idea it could tumble down the stairs, end-over-end, on its own. Its usability was obvious to me, but foreign to her.

Usability is in the eyes of the beholder. That which is easy to us isn’t always obvious to our customers. We explore that topic in the just-published Marketing 101: What is website usability?
