GENDER & POWER RELATIONSSHIFT KEY FINDINGS
Three major takeaways in advance of a final report on sexual harassment and power abuse in the European art world
IETM is leading the Strand on Gender & Power Relations of SHIFT – Shared Initiatives for Training, an Erasmus+ project aiming to provide training and skills for cultural leaders, specifically those of cultural networks. The aim of the SHIFT Gender and Power Relations work is to research cases of sexual harassment and power abuse that have been revealed and discussed in the European arts field in recent years, with a focus on the developments since the #MeToo period. The team of researchers also aims to propose solution-oriented strategies for creating equitable and safe work environments for culture professionals. We have just published our SHIFT key findings on Gender & Power Relations. This first document aims to share and put to discussion some first major takeaways from our work, in advance of a final report on sexual harassment and power abuse in the European art world. It also formulates preliminary recommendations and three major questions aimed to develop a transnational, cross-border perspective, as well as possible solutions tocombat sexual harassment and power abuse in the European cultural sector.
The key findings were prepared by the team of researchers Marta Keil (IETM) and Marie Le Sourd (On the Move), with the editorial support of Katie Kheriji-Watts (On the Move), Ása Richardsdóttir (IETM) and Elena Polivtseva (IETM).
