Donate now and help a Tasmanian in need this Christmas |
| |
Have you donated to the ABC Giving Tree Appeal this year? Now in its 31st year, the Appeal collects gifts and raises money for local charities, to help Tasmanians and families in need over the Christmas period. Christmas and the holidays can be joyful, but for many it is a really difficult time of the year. If you are already struggling to make ends meet, the pressure of Christmas can be especially challenging. The Giving Tree Appeal looks to support those who need it most. You can be a part of this by contributing with a special gift, or a online cash donation. Give joy to a fellow Tasmanian these holidays, and donate today.

Would human-free beaches help preserve bird habitats? |
| |
Due to its island nature Tasmania has hundreds of beaches along its coastline and is a shorebird stronghold. It is home to half the world's population of hooded plovers and pied oystercatchers. This summer, wildlife experts want seaside lovers to be more aware of the creatures who call the beach home, and have proposed making more sandy areas human-free. Would it make a difference? We investigated to find out.
