🏀 Warren Buffet Pays $2.1 Million To March Madness Winners |
Warren Buffet finally paid out a $1 million prize to a Berkshire Hathaway employee for a March Madness contest. |
Inspired by a Quicken Loans promotion in 2014, which promised $1 billion for a perfect bracket (Buffet’s company insured the prize), he started his own contest for his nearly 400,000 employees in 2016. |
He required someone to correctly predict the first 32 games of the NCAA Tournament for a perfect Sweet 16. But he’s since relaxed the rules, including this year offering $1 million to anyone who predicts at least 30 of the first 32 games. |
The college basketball landscape has changed as players are able to make huge sums of money, concentrating more talent in the hands of the richest programs. As such, 12 of his employees nailed 31 of 32 picks. |
One grabbed a $1 million prize courtesy of a tiebreaker and the rest got awarded $100,000. |
Talk about an unexpected bonus! |
