Where's Johnny Jet? Greetings from Southern California! As you can see from the photo above, my family and I spent the weekend at Disneyland trying to learn the ropes so our kids can enjoy the happiest place on Earth for less and without having to wait in long lines. We'll share some Disneyland tips below so scroll down! I was supposed to be gearing up for my round-the-world (LAX-DFW-YYZ-LHR-HEL-SIN-BKK-HKG-LAX) trip beginning on Sunday, but I canceled it due to the coronavirus. You can read about which airlines gave me a difficult time and which ones were great to work with here. That brings us to another story: Yesterday, I was quoted in a CNN story about 9 things that will make flying on an airplane better. My perspective is that airlines should allow legitimately sick travelers to change their tickets for free so they don't get sicker and, more importantly, get other passengers/flight attendants infected. I know many people take their flights because they can’t afford not to. Of course, one remedy is to buy travel insurance (my family and I have an annual travel insurance policy with our sponsor, Allianz). The week's big travel news There was so much travel news this week that there’s not enough room in our usual dedicated box below for it, so I thought I'd highlight some of the big stories here. If you like this format, I can keep doing it. Let me know your thoughts! That’s great news for AA and other oneworld (British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Finnair, Iberia, Japan Airlines, LATAM Airlines, Malaysia Airlines, Qantas, Qatar Airways, Royal Jordanian, S7 Airlines, and SriLankan Airlines) flyers. Not sure if it’s good news for Alaska Airlines MVP Gold flyers since their upgrades will be much more difficult to clear.
Should you recline your seat on a short flight? The story of a dispute over reclining etiquette on a recent AA flight is drawing opinions from all sides of the issue. On a flight from New Orleans to Charlotte, passenger Wendi Williams recorded a video of the passenger behind her repeatedly jabbing her reclined seat with his hand, seemingly in response to her reclining her seat into his space. Read the story and leave a comment on our page and tell us: Which passenger was in the right here? Why you shouldn't mix alcohol and medicine Not that you needed any proof that passengers (or anyone for that matter) should not mix alcohol and medicine, but here are two cases that will make you think twice: A passenger on an EasyJet flight from Manchester, England, to Iceland forced the plane to land unexpectedly after he harassed passengers and crew and attempted to eat his cellphone British woman sentenced to two years in prison for outburst that forced fighter jet escort 737 MAX update No surprise here and good news for summer travelers who are worried about getting stuck on a 737MAX: Southwest Airlines extended Boeing 737 MAX cancellations into August. American and United will surely follow and they will probably push it again to October. Delta consolidating operations at New York’s JFK airport It will be great to see Delta Air Lines consolidate operations at JFK so travelers don’t have to transfer from T2 to T4.
