| | When Web3 arrives, would we know? First off: Congrats to 2020 RealList Connector Pava LaPere and her company, EcoMap Technologies, for today being named a member of PAX Momentum's Spring-22 Cohort. EcoMap, which uses automation to help users understand and traverse ecosystems, was the only Maryland company in this year's accelerator class.
A couple of weeks ago, I asked what the milestones of Web3 would be, and how we would know when it's fully arrived. Technical.ly reader Jose Galdamez responded with this thoughtful prediction: "We might realize Web3 is fully here when a blockchain-based app that isn't just cryptocurrency or NFTs reaches critical mass, like hundreds of thousands of users growing to millions — and people don't even realize it's on the blockchain," he said. "One use case that comes to mind is companies using Web3 to verify in real-time someone's birth certificate, passport, residential history, credit history, professional credentials, identity or other info that would best be non-fungible. This Microsoft product is one of the first practical use cases that comes to mind." What do you think?
