16 over 61 awards call for submissions

We're excited to partner with the Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan on their newest project, the 16 Over 61 Awards.The 16 over 61 Awards will spotlight the creativity, leadership, and initiative of sixteen adults over the age of 61 who are nominated by YOU and chosen by a committee of peers, lay leaders, and Jewish professionals.

Nominations will be accepted through February 15 and the honorees will be notified mid-March. A virtual celebration will follow, details forthcoming. 

The Forward Book Club

Join our virtual book club, led by Rachel Fishman Feddersen, publisher & CEO; Chana Pollack, archivist; and Talya Zax, innovation editor. This month we're reading "Man of My Time" by Dalia Sofer.

One of The New York Times' 100 Notable Books of 2020, the novel is set in Iran; Sofer is from an Iranian Jewish family that relocated to the United States when she was a child. Per an NYT review, the book is " a layered portrayal of a man who through several decades has carried with him the conflicting pieces — beauty and brutality, revolt and repression — of his country’s history."

We'll discuss this book in two parts: The first 22 chapters on Wednesday, February 17 at 3 p.m. ET, and the rest of the book on Wednesday, February 24 at the same time.
