Spring tidings from the beach We don't want to jinx anything, but we definitely detect signs of Spring down here on the beach. With Imbolc behind us, and the days inching longer, we're daring to dream of warmer days to come. For now, the extraordinary Starling murmurations are at their most mesmerising, and the sunsets at their most spectacular. Join us on Friday 23rd at 5pm for a free cup of hot chocolate and watch the greatest show in town as the sky fills with great clouds of cartwheeling Starlings, and the sun sinks over the horizon. You couldn't pick a better spot. Witches Thimbles Print by Cally Conway Starlings Over West Pier card by Sarah Young. |

Riso rising We're looking forward to our upcoming exhibition which will spotlight a host of UK artists working with Riso prints. Made with a Risograph printer, which looks like a photocopier, but works as a screenprinter, this technique was originally used for high volume printing in places like schools and offices. Long since superseded by flashier technology, the defunct Risograph is developing something of a cult status, with a growing group of artists layering its rich spot colours and stencils to create tactile and vibrant prints, affordably and with little impact to the environment. Think of them as collectible vinyl in a digital world! We already stock some fantastic Riso prints by artists like Sarah Young, Roman Klonek, and Dalma Bujnovszky who made this brilliant image of our beloved Duke of York's cinema with the risograph technique. Opening in March, stay tuned for your invite to the private view, and come start your own Riso collection! |

We are always keen to host new and intriguing events here in the arches. It's a brilliant venue for all sorts of happenings, and we're open to any suggestion - no matter how unlikely!* Case in point is Voulez Vouz - The ABBA Immersive Painting Experience, which does exactly what it says on the (paint) tin. Join regular ABtS painting tutor Denise Harrison on the 25th or 26th May for a sing-a-long-with-Abba-painting-class. All materials provided and open to all artistic (and vocal) abilities. Bring your own glitter. Take a chance and book your place now! *well, almost! |
