(Photos Andy Buchanan for Skateistan) Over the last month, we have been celebrating Skateistan’s 10th birthday and the impact that the organization has had on the lives of youth in Afghanistan, Cambodia and South Africa in the last 10 years. Today, we shift our focus to the future as we unveil our new fundraising campaign, Skateistan10. The six-week campaign looks to the future of Skateistan and our goals for the next decade by telling the inspiring stories of our most motivated students and sharing stunning new photos from our Skate Schools. When Skateistan began in 2008, it was no more than a few girls on skateboards in Kabul and a dream. 10 years later and it has grown to be an award-winning organization with over 2,000 active students, 50% of which are girls. From today until June 21st, we are aiming to raise $50,000 so that over the next 10 years we can empower thousands more children, create safe spaces in new locations, and change the lives of even more children around the world.
