Skateistan10 Campaign Reached its Target!

Young girl skating in Afghanistan

We’re delighted to let you know that our Skateistan10 campaign reached its target of $50,000!

2018 marks our 10th birthday and we celebrated by running a special campaign featuring four of our most dedicated students. You can read all about them on our campaign blog.

Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we made our target and we’re now in a position to look to the future and make plans to empower thousands more children through skateboarding and education. It’s not too late to be a part of it! You can donate now and make a real difference to children’s lives.

Girls Kickflipping in Afghanistan

Girls kickflipping

As far as we know, there are three girls in Afghanistan who can kickflip. All of them are Skateistan students. We were so excited when our Educator Noorzai sent through these first pictures!

The girls are part of our Youth Leadership program in Mazar-e-Sharif and they’re proving that girls in Afghanistan can achieve so much when they’re given a chance. Watch out for upcoming videos!

Introducing the GoodPush Alliance

GoodPush Logo

Last year, Skateistan won the WeWork Creator Award in Berlin. This award has enabled us to launch the GoodPush Alliance, a global platform where we can share our knowledge from over 10 years of running skateboarding and education programs.

Through GoodPush, we can help other social skateboarding projects learn from our experience so that more children can enjoy the freedom and fun that skateboarding brings.

We are currently working closely with three skateboarding projects in Iraq, Palestine and Jordan to share knowledge and ideas. Later this year we will be publishing a suite of free online resources for organizations involved in the GoodPush Alliance.

South Africa Skate School Celebrates Second Anniversary

Girls at the skatepark in Johannesburg

It’s been almost two years since we officially opened our Skate School in Johannesburg’s Central Business District! For the past two years, the team in South Africa has been welcoming hundreds of children who now have a safe space to play, learn and make new friends.

Students from 5 to 17 are now attending Back-to-School, Skate and Create, and Youth Leadership programs and we’re still running Outreach programs in the city to reach new students. To celebrate the anniversary, Blam Studio has updated and re-released 'Get Used To It'- a short film about how skateboarding is empowering women and girls in South Africa today.
