The Louisiana blizzard of 2025 blanketed Acadiana with around a foot of snow, shut down roads and businesses, and drove everyone from Morgan City to Grand Coteau indoors. In response, families across the region turned to their gumbo pots. "I thought, 'if this isn't gumbo weather I don't know what is,'" said Dante Rabeaux, a 29-year-old Lafayette resident who made a chicken and sausage gumbo for the first time ever during the storm.
