Media Winners & Losers

MEDIA WINNER:
J.D. Durkin

Kat Cammack is not alone among Republicans in believing the 2020 election wasn’t “fair.” But the Florida congresswoman has just gone much further — stating that no election in American history has ever been on the level.

Cammack made this pretty astonishing comment under excellent questioning from Cheddar anchor J.D. Durkin.

Durkin was asking Cammack about the GOP blocking the We The People act when the topic of the electoral system came up. Cammack floated the nebulous, unsubstantiated claim that there was “a lot of funny business” related to the 2020 vote, “and those types of actions really undermine what people believe to be a free and fair election.”

When Durkin asked if she stands by her vote to decertify results after the 1/6 attack on the Capitol, Cammack pushed back, saying her vote to decertify “was not to overturn the election.”

So Durkin asked if President Joe Biden won "fair and square," to which Cammack dodgily replied that she he won because the people voted for him.

Durkin relentlessly pursued the point, eventually eliciting the amazing assertion from Cammack that no American election has ever been fair.

It was a well-executed interview, turning potentially small news into a newsworthy moment.

MEDIA LOSER:
Joy Behar

Joy Behar made a crude sex joke at the expense of Las Vegas Raiders defensive lineman Carl Nassib, the first active NFL player to come out as gay, then later sheepishly attempted to take it back.

On Tuesday’s edition of The View, the hostsaddressed an Instagram video Nassib posted on Friday, in which he told followers, “I just wanna take a quick moment to say that I’m gay.”

Discussing Nassib, Behar asked Ana Navarro if she was surprised that it took so long for an NFL player to come out as gay, prompting Navarro to note that the NFL has been around for 100 years, statistically meaning there must be other players who did not feel comfortable enough to do so.

The hosts continued that discussion for a few minutes before Behar's derailment.

“You know, Ana, after they said penetration in the end zone, they lose me,” she said. The insensitive sex joke earned laughs from every host aside from Meghan McCain.

In fact, McCain, the conservative in the room, was the only host that seemed entirely unamused, even somewhat disgusted by the turn in commentary.

Later in the show, Behar clumsily attempted to take it back without apologizing.

As for McCain, she was understandably unamused on more than one issue Tuesday.

The A-Block

Critical Race Riot

Virginia’s Loudoun County school board shut down a public comment period, and called police to arrest attendees, after parents objected to new transgender policy proposals.

Parents attended the Tuesday meeting to weigh in on new policies that include allowing transgender students to choose which restrooms they use, in addition to requiring employees to use the students’ preferred names. The board is expected to vote on the proposals on August 10.

A total of 259 parents signed up to express their opinion on the policies at the meeting. But, as depicted in the videos below by Gabriella Borter of Reuters, the event quickly derailed when the mother of one transgender student told the board that “hate” was “dripping from the followers of Jesus in this room,” a shot at Christian parents who oppose the proposals.” The comments sparked a chorus of boos and prompted the board to call a five-minute recess.

When the group reconvened, board chair Brenda Sheridan said the nine-member board had voted to end the public comment period if there was another outburst from the audience. But when former state Sen. Dick Black (R) took the stand to speak against the proposal — and said left-wing residents had been compiling a list of conservative neighbors to publicly shame over the issue — the audience cheered, prompting the board to vote to end the meeting. Attendees heckled the board members and began singing the Star-Spangled Banner as they left the room.

As multiple videos and photos shared on social media demonstrate, things got even more out of hand. There was shouting, shoving, and more.

And then police, resistance, and arrests happened...

Just reiterate the point. This was a school board meeting.
