Driverless cars have taken another step forward. Tollway operator EastLink has carried out a second demonstration of hands-free driving, this time with automated speed and steering controls.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission has recommended that the NBN Co, the company rolling out Australia's national broadband network, be split into two entities before it is privatised after the rollout ends.

A new Australian communications alliance, Commpete, has called for competition to return to the centre of communications policy and a reversal of market concentration if the vision that inspired the NBN is to be recaptured.
