More states are legalizing sports betting, and media companies including Bleacher Report and CBS Sports are getting their content plans in place, teeing up gambling-related programming.

Despite the general gloom and doom around digital publishing, a handful of publishers including The Atlantic and L.A. Times are on hiring sprees, helped by moneyed backers.

Spotify used to be able to get away with saying its audience was "unique" and "big," but with advertisers demanding more accountability from platforms, it's had to ramp up its verification offerings.
