Higher temps, rain-snow mix ahead this weekend: Our temps are finally getting back to normal. Highs tomorrow will be in the 30s across the state, and Saturday we’ll hit 40 degrees or higher for the southern half of Minnesota. A slushy mix of snow and rain is possible Saturday afternoon across Minnesota. Two students died, several injured at a Calif. High school shooting. The suspect has been identified as a 16-year-old student at the high school. Officials say the suspect carried out the attack on his birthday, and is currently in "grave condition."
Wet weather, early winter hit sugarbeet farmers in Minnesota . It had been a too-wet fall for many farmers to harvest crops from the ground. And the recent Arctic cold snap kicked in, leaving nearly one-third of this year’s crop frozen in the ground.
More eagles in the metro area wind up in the hospital. The U’s Raptor Center has seen a record number of injured bald eagles recently -- 180 eagles so far this year, a spike of nearly 50 percent from the annual patient count from just a few years before. Eagles die or are injured when they collide with vehicles. The birds can also be exposed to lead poisoning because of some ammos hunters use for deer hunting.
