State budget czar finds this flaw in House spending plan

Spending limit: There's one, big problem with the House's plan to pay down debt with extra cash and avoid a key spending limit, Gov. John Bel Edwards' budget czar says – the plan actually tops the limit by nearly $200 million. James Finn has the story.

Landry at the Lege: Jeff Landry, gubernatorial candidate and attorney general, stumped at the Legislature Tuesday for a bill to restrict access to sexually explicit materials in libraries, Finn reports. The bill heads now to the full House.

Land buy ban: State lawmakers advanced this week bills that would prevent China and its citizens from buying land in Louisiana, part of a national effort by the Republican Party to stop foreign land ownership, Sam Karlin reports. Critics say the bills discriminate against Chinese and other immigrants.
