Cleveland Kitchen’s kimchi pickle chips offer Korean flavors

In the past year, Cleveland Kitchen has more than doubled its manufacturing space to 65,000 square feet and added kimchi pickle chips to its line of fermented products. Just last month, Walmart started carrying the 24-ounce Kimchi Pickle Chips at more than 1,000 stores nationwide. To celebrate the launch, the company is holding tasting demos at various Walmart locations. READ MORE

Rood Food bought by owners of Cloak & Dagger; No changes planned 

Rood Food & Pie in Lakewood has new ownership. Vessel Hospitality, led by Cory Hajde, took over August 1. While its menu and artisan cocktails say “fine dining,” Rood is really known for its over-the-top pies. That, like everything else, will continue. READ MORE

 

Aldi opens second Middleburg Heights store

Aldi is opening a second Middleburg Heights store at 6820 Pearl Road at 8:30 a.m., Thursday, August 15. The suburb’s first Aldi’s store was opened 21 years ago. READ  MORE

Malley’s supports food bank with Sundae of the Month promotion 

In August, Malley’s Chocolates is partnering with the Greater Cleveland Food Bank as part of the chocolate company’s Sundae of the Month promotion. A portion of sales of the Malley Monster will go to the food bank, the company announced. DETAILS

Cilantro Taqueria opened first location in city of Cleveland next week 

Cilantro Taqueria, 2417 Professor Avenue, officially opened at 11 a.m. on August 5 in the former Fahrenheit space. It is the local chain’s first location officially inside the city limits of Cleveland. The restaurant sells fresh, customizable Mexican cuisine that’s available at its other five restaurants in Northeast Ohio. READ MORE

 

Former Bell & Flower/Rick’s Café still under construction in Chagrin Falls, will open as French bistro later this year  

The construction site at 86 North Main St. in Chagrin Falls -- formerly known as Bell & Flower for six years and Rick’s Café for decades before that – will open as Café Lola by year’s end. That is, if the name doesn’t confuse diners with celebrity chef Michael Symon’s Lola Bistro which closed in 2020. Owners Rick Doody and Joe Saccone are still reflecting on name choices. They have time because construction in the space is taking longer than expected. READ MORE 

 

Salt+, Lakewood, to close at end of August 

Salt+ restaurant in Lakewood will serve its final small plates and cocktails on August 31. Owners Jill Vedaa and Jessica Parkison posted the news on Instagram. READ MORE

Aladdin’s opens newest Northeast Ohio location in Medina 

Aladdin’s Eatery has opened its Medina location, marking 35 locations in total serving its Lebanese-Mediterranean cuisine. The restaurant at 951 N. Court Street officially opened on July 31. Just this year, the restaurant’s flagship location in Lakewood at 14536 Detroit Road celebrated 30 years in business. READ MORE

Peach Fest in Cleveland’s West Park to celebrate summer produce 

Farm Dog Fresh and 5 Points Coffee are hosting their annual Peach Fest in Cleveland’s West Park neighborhood. Peach Fest is scheduled for August 10-11 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 15902 West Park Road. DETAILS

 

Little Italy Feast of the Assumption set for August 15-18 in Greater Cleveland 

Cleveland’s biggest Italian-Catholic celebration of the summer is fast approaching with the upcoming Feast of the Assumption in Little Italy. Commonly known as “The Feast,” Cleveland’s Little Italy neighborhood becomes a four-day party in the streets with plenty of food, entertainment and celebration for locals and visitors alike. The 125th Feast of the Assumption is set for August 15-18.  READ MORE

 

Yelp Cleveland hosts 5 fun, free foodie activities 

If you have a Yelp profile with a real name, photo and city posted, you can attend one or all of Yelp Cleveland’s five, free foodie events in August. Activities include samples from foodie businesses like Batter, Cake & Dough, Pop Culture CLE, sweet bean chocolates and more. READ MORE 

 

Ice cream and beer pairing scheduled 

Great Lakes Brewing Co. and Mason’s Creamery are teaming up to pair four ice cream flavors with four beers. The “hop college” event is Thursday, Aug. 8, at the brewery in Cleveland's Ohio City neighborhood. Attendees will receive a few gifts to take home, including a pint of ice cream. READ MORE 

 

Chardon BrewFest is scheduled 

The Chardon BrewFest is set for Saturday, Aug. 10. The fest will have 25 breweries serving 50 beers. Most of the breweries are located within 50 miles of Chardon. Plus there’s a couple cool bands who are slated to perform. Tickets are on sale. READ MORE

King Kone Chardon 

As a grown-up you can sometimes eat dessert for dinner. A traditional banana split – chocolate, strawberry and vanilla ice cream with chocolate, strawberry and pineapple topping -- at King Kone in Chardon checks off several food groups. Think fruit and dairy. The nuts might even squeeze in on the protein radar.  Specialty creations like strawberry shortcake sundae, peanut butter cup sundae and maple syrup-spiked milli vanilli will supply all the dinner calories you need. The Meatballer  

The Meatballer is a food truck concept by Lago Concession that can be found at many events and food truck parks as of Summer 2024. Chicken cutlet sandwiches, slices of fried eggplant, fresh pasta salads and more make Italian-American classics into easy handheld snacks for on-the-go summer activities.
