It's an opportunity for young artists to share their passion for music and to perform in front of a sizable audience. “The artists we honor have pursued their passion for music through countless hours, days and weeks of practice and rehearsal to reach this remarkable level of expertise at such a young age,” said Deseret News executive editor Doug Wilks. “It is a joy to provide an additional platform for them to share their talents and to play a small part in celebrating their accomplishments," Wilks said. 🎵 Read more about the seven kids and their chance to shine this week. |

| | While it’s been a rough season for the Utes on the gridiron — the University of Utah is finding other ways to ascend the national rankings. Earlier this month, Utah’s flagship university was ranked No. 3 in the West for undergraduate and graduate entrepreneurship education by Princeton Review. Nationwide, the University of Utah cracked the top 25, coming in at No. 24. “Our focus is making sure we have strong programs that make our students successful,” Kurt Dirks, dean of the university’s David Eccles School of Business, told reporter Jason Swensen. Here are three key points from the article: The business school's Lassonde Entrepreneur Institute offers student-entrepreneurs a vast space to innovate and collaborate. Many Lassonde Entrepreneur Institute participants are business founders utilizing the institute’s resources to launch and grow their ventures. Hundreds of University of Utah students live in the Lassonde Studio's four floors of residential space. Read more about the University of Utah's entrepreneurship education. Her blog, the NieNie Dialogues, which turns 20 years old next year, has grown with her into a vulnerable and earnest record of Nielson’s healing. The blog stands as a chronicle of Nielson’s resilience — a space where she could tell her story on her own terms, choosing life, hope and faith amid unrelenting physical pain. That resilience was put to the test again when Nielson hiked Mount Kilimanjaro, along with a group of burn survivors from the Arizona Burn Center. The trip, which included doctors and nurses who treated Nielson, aimed to raise funds for a new burn center. Often physically exhausted and emotionally drained on the hike, Nielson faced the question that is now part of her everyday life: How do you live with inescapable pain and devastating memories and, despite the agony, move forward anyway? “My whole recovery is climbing mountains every day,” she told reporter Mariya Manzhos. The summit was part of her healing, she says.
