Stocks end mixed, Federal Reserve decision due Wednesday

U.S. investors took a breather ahead of the Federal Reserve’s decision on interest rates due Wednesday. While the Dow and S&P 500 pulled back, the Nasdaq Composite registered a small gain helped by Starbucks which hit a fresh record and a handful of semiconductor stocks.
