Sterling Municipal Light Dept. used energy storage to save more than $417,000 in year 1. By using cheaper stored electricity and discharging the batteries during hours of regional peak demand, the town significantly reduced its cost for electricity capacity and transmission services as well as the cost of electricity for its ratepayers. The energy storage system also provides backup power for emergency services during extended power outages. |
