By Bob Warren Balcony Bar shooting probe: We have some new information on the mass shooting last week outside the Balcony Bar on Magazine Street. Authorities are saying the shooting that left six people wounded stems from a months-long feud between two well-armed groups with no reluctance to start shooting. Street justice has become a public focal point of the investigation. Deputy dies: A sheriff’s deputy wounded in a 2016 shooting in Baton Rouge has died. Tributes have poured in for Nick Tullier, who becomes the fourth officer to have died after the ambush shooting, which followed the Alton Sterling protests in Baton Rouge. Tullier died this morning at age 47, his family said. Guaranteed income: The city has launched a new program that sends $350 payments to people for 10 months, part of a national program to help study the effects of a guaranteed income. The money comes from a privately funded $500,000 grant. Ben Myers has more here. Irma Thomas does more than sing: Today is "locals day" at the Jazz Fest. And it doesn't get more local than Irma Thomas. But did you know she makes the dresses she typically wears during her Jazz Fest performances? I know, right??!! Way cool. And if you're headed to the fest today, here's the skinny on what to listen to and what to eat. Minority representation: Big story developing with the Jefferson Parish School Board. In a split vote last night, the board decided to add two more districts in an effort to increase representation of minorities. Faimon Roberts has the story. Saving a church: We're marking a notable passing today. Sandra Johnson Gordon, one of the driving forces to keep St. Augustine Catholic Church in Treme open at a time when church officials wanted to close it after Hurricane Katrina, died in Atlanta recently of injuries she sustained in a car crash. “Sandra saved St. Augustine,” fellow parishioner Jacques Morial told contributing writer Katy Reckdahl.
