Preston families could be facing the choice between eating or heating this winter - as energy price hikes are already falling onto their doormats.
View email online | | | | | Sep 22, 2021 | | | | | | Good evening There can’t be many people who will not be impacted by the surge in gas prices ... after all it is going to hit us all firmly in the pocket. That is never good news in the run-up to the festive season, particularly when many have been on furlough and may see their jobs disappear next week as the Government hand-out to pandemic-hit firms ends. But while many of us will grumble, there are many more for whom this is a total disaster. It will mean they have to choose between putting food on the table or heating their homes. And that means that many will turn to already overwhelmed food banks to help them cope through the winter months. In the coming weeks and months, we will be asking you to help those food banks prepare for that busy time by handing in a few items you may be able to spare for someone who is not quite as lucky as you. It is a terrible position to be in. This is Britain in the 21st century and such poverty should have been left behind. But it has not and we know you will rise to the challenge.
