Studying with contemporary masters Scott Burdick, Susan Lyon, Seth Haverkamp, Scott Conary and Dawn Whitelaw, McCrary has shown in and received awards with Portrait Society of America, Salon International, Raymar and BoldBrush, and participated in the first Women Painting Women exhibition in Charleston, SC. Her work may be found in collections throughout the US. Suellen finds faces to be endlessly fascinating - so changeable according to mood. She enjoys the challenge of portraying the soul and humanity of every subject in her work, often pushing the perception of realism into abstraction while still retaining their emotion and calling.
