Sumter Street ready for turn in spotlight

The downtown corridor a block removed from the Main Street renaissance has been spruced up and is ready to welcome new businesses, beginning with a Holiday Inn slated to open at the corner of Sumter and Washington streets at the end of the year. Storefronts have also been repainted, and self-watering plants provide a burst of color.
