Thankfully, UNHCR’s teams were on the ground within hours of the attack to provide emergency aid. They have been there, time and again, to assist families in the aftermath of these catastrophic strikes.
But this isn’t the only threat the people of Ukraine are facing. A humanitarian funding freeze means that Ukrainians will soon start missing out on crucial aid.
For three long years, they’ve had to make do with the bare essentials. A camp bed in a crowded shelter. A single blanket on freezing winter nights.
Now, even this basic but life-saving assistance is at risk.
While Russia has announced a three-day ceasefire from 8 - 10 May, there is still no sign that the war will end for good.
Supporter, after the next missile strike, will UNHCR be able to deliver critical emergency supplies?
Ukrainians are despairing at how they will survive this war with even less. Meanwhile, the bombs keep falling.
Supporter, these are the most urgent needs:
SHELTER: Around 2.5 million homes have been damaged or destroyed in this senseless war. Without a funding boost, thousands are at risk of missing out on shelter in the aftermath of deadly air strikes.
CASH: Refugees are struggling to survive far from home. Many have run out of savings and can’t find work. Vulnerable families will risk missing out on the funds they rely on to buy food, medicine and other essentials.
MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORT: Over 60 per cent of households report at least one mental health challenge such as trauma or anxiety. Without more support, vulnerable Ukrainians – including children – are at risk of missing out on mental health services that can help them cope with their trauma and begin to heal.
Supporter, without your support, Ukrainians face an even bleaker future.
Please donate urgently to ensure they don’t miss out on crucial aid – lives are at stake.
Thank you for continuing to stand with the people of Ukraine after three years of brutal, full-scale war. Your support right now will make all the difference to a family that has already survived so much.
With gratitude,
Trudi Mitchell CEO
P.S. Ukrainians on the frontlines of war will be the ones to suffer most in this funding crisis. Please show them they’re not alone – donate nowto provide shelter, warm blankets, psychological support and more.
