Dear Friend, Welcome back to my Week in Review newsletter. Please remember to follow me on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube for regular updates on how I am serving the people of South Carolina! Supporting Our American Automakers Auto companies across our nation are experiencing inventory shortages due to global supply chain issues. The Biden administration’s policies have created rampant inflation and dependency on foreign production—failing to protect America’s auto industry. I introduced the Supply Chain Disruptions Relief Act, alongside Senator Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio), to help stabilize the auto industry and support thousands of jobs in South Carolina. This legislation aims to provide much-needed tax relief to businesses in our state and around the country. Read more about the bill here. Celebrating National FFA Week The agriculture industry contributes over 250,000 jobs and $51.8 billion in annual economic impact to South Carolina. The FFA provides vital training to students and the next generation of farmers and ranchers, which is essential to the success of America’s agricultural industry. To celebrate the important work the FFA does, I joined Senators Todd Young (R-Ind.) and Chris Coons (D-Del.) in cosponsoring a resolution designating February 18th – February 25th, 2023, as National FFA Organization Week, which unanimously passed the Senate. I will continue the fight to ensure farmers and ranchers in South Carolina have the resources they need to feed our families. Read more about the resolution here. #SCSweetTea and Entrepreneurship! This week for #SCSweetTea, I am highlighting how the City of Clinton and Presbyterian College cultivated a partnership to nurture new businesses in Laurens County. Through this partnership, South Carolinians will learn about economic development and the necessary skills to build a business. Future generations of entrepreneurs will have access to mentorship and resources as they take their ideas from concept to reality. I can’t wait to see what's next for this community.
