Last night, gig-goers were stunned when singer-songwriter Lewis Capaldi appeared on stage at a charity concert in aid of mental health charity, CALM. With Tom Walker and Nina Nesbitt top of the billing, Capaldi was last to perform, in his first live show in almost two years. Capaldi stepped down from live shows after the Glastonbury Festival in 2023 to address physical and mental health issues.
Kirk redundancies Redundancies are forecast at the Church of Scotland, to plug a black hole in its finances. Some regions are also testing “team ministry” as a way of sharing ministers to cut costs. Financial records show the church authority’s operating deficit for 2024 was around £750,000 higher than was forecasted at its annual meeting last year. Ferry crack woes We also have the latest in the long-running ferry saga. The reason for the crack in brand new ferry Glen Sannox's hull is revealed exclusively to our transport correspondent, Alastair Dalton. Read more here. Art cinema to reopen next month And it's been a long time coming, but Edinburgh's Filmhouse cinema is finally to reopen next month, with a soft launch programme of films it "missed" during its two and a half year closure.
