Minnesota's COVID-19 outbreak continues to trend down, with case counts remaining under 600, and the lowest test positivity rate since June. State health officials reported 586 new cases in the latest data. That's less than a quarter of the case counts at the beginning of 2021. Another key metric, the number of active cases confirmed in the state, fell to its lowest point since September, at 7,700. That number had topped 48,000 just before Thanksgiving. Vaccinations ticked up again, recovering from their lowest point in weeks. But at just over 16,000 doses administered in the latest data, the effort still isn't reaching as many Minnesotans a day as in mid-January.
