Greetings, and welcome to the Saints Insider newsletter for Thursday, Oct. 13. Big game this week, in case you haven't heard. The Cincinnati Bengals are coming to town with Joe Burrow, Ja'Marr Chase and a host of other players with local connections. It'll be Burrow and Chase's first game back in the Superdome since winning the 2019 national championship with the LSU Tigers. But the big news in New Orleans is Taysom Hill, who is coming off a career game against the Seattle Seahawks. Hill was named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week for his epic performance on Sunday. But he's not wallowing in the glory of the achievement. Hill said he just wants to help the team in any way he can and is eager to do whatever the Saints ask of him. The Saints have endured some attrition to their running back room in recent weeks. They addressed it Wednesday by adding a former Pro Bowler to their practice squad, Luke Johnson reports. Meanwhile, Jameis Winston returned to the practice field for the first time in weeks. The veteran quarterbacks was limited in his work, Luke Johnson reports, but it was a positive sign in Winston's return from a multiple injuries. And finally, Tyrann Mathieu was forced to pay off a lost wager with some of his Tennessee teammates after the Vols upended his alma mater, LSU, in Baton Rouge over the weekend. We'll have plenty of more news this week as the Saints begin preparations for their big game against Joe Burrow, Ja'Marr Chase and the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday. So look for those news alerts from our coverage team as we ramp up our coverage on NOLA.com ahead of the big game. Until next time, Jeff Duncan |
