Good evening
 
So now we know.
The whole of Lancashire will remain in Tier 3 into the New Year, with only the five-day Christmas period when we can mix with family.
This is devastating news for our hospitality industry which would have been hoping to open for a week running up to the big day to allow people to get out for a meal within their family bubbles.
But given the rise in cases in the South East - and in some parts of this county as well - it is hardly surprising that the Health Secretary has opted to keep us under restrictions.
Speaking to people who work at the sharp end of the NHS there is a feeling of relief. They can see hospitals filling up and know that restrictions being lifted at Christmas will likely lead to another spike in January and February. As that is traditionally the busiest time of the year in the health service, you can’t blame NHS workers for wanting to keep people apart as much as possible. After all they need to pick up the pieces.
We’ll just have to make the most of it and have the mother of all parties next year.
