Using artificial intelligence as an assistant to answer questions has the potential to increase your impact, but to get there, you must separate potential from unrealistic promises. Here are two ways to experiment with AI on your farm.

A couple years ago, Ulysses, Neb., farmer Lukas Fricke added monitoring tech to a grain bin. “The return-on-investment was fast – it paid for itself that first year,” says Fricke, adding the automation unlocked 300 to 400 extra bushels of soybean moisture.

When deciding what technology serves your goals, and to get the most bang for your buck, determine if you need to grow business revenue, increase productivity, reduce costs and/or stabilize daily operation.
