news alert

Techstars announced that its new AI and healthcare accelerator will stay in Baltimore for the next few years — with more money for founders.

The news came out at the first cohort's demo day, where founders from throughout the US, Canada and Argentina pitched their startups. Local ecosystem leaders, in turn, made their case for these companies to build in Baltimore.

“We need you to stay here,” EVP Lester Davis of CareFirst, one of the key partners behind the AI Health Baltimore accelerator, told that inaugural group's startups from the stage at M&T Bank Stadium. “Baltimore, the Maryland area, has everything that you need."

Future participants have the opportunity to earn $220k from Techstars — and applications close this week.
