We are deeply saddened to report a devastating shooting attack in Jerusalem this morning. Three innocent lives were tragically lost, including Rabbi Elimelech Wasserman, a respected rabbinical judge from Ashdod. The attack also left five others wounded. The terrorists, affiliated with Hamas, were neutralized by security forces and a civilian at the scene. This heartbreaking incident occurred at the Givat Shaul junction near Jerusalem's entrance, where civilians at a bus stop were targeted. The swift response by security forces and a vigilant civilian prevented further casualties. Following the attack, police conducted extensive searches and arrested several family members of the attackers. This attack comes amidst ongoing efforts to maintain the fragile ceasefire in Gaza. Despite the tension, Israel is preparing for the release of 10 more hostages later today, a critical step in the ongoing negotiations. In these challenging times, Zaka Tel Aviv's unwavering commitment to responding to terror attacks remains a cornerstone of our mission. For years, we have been at the forefront of providing immediate support and assistance in the aftermath of such attacks. Our volunteers tirelessly work to offer aid, comfort, and preparedness training, ensuring the safety and resilience of our communities. This crucial part of our mission has never been more important than it is today, as we continue to stand strong in the face of adversity. |
