VIDEO: Cleanup is expected to last through Thursday night into Friday morning after fire suppression foam was "inadvertently" released at about 5:30 a.m. at one of the United Airlines hangars that dot a public service road at Bush Intercontinental Airport. It happened just off Wright Road, in a hangar adjacent to the flight attendant training facility. Large amounts of fire suppression foam seeped onto nearby parking lots, around fences, posts, over cars, and eventually on a portion of the public Wright Road. It wasn't long before the Houston Fire Department was called in to assist. "Because of its high expansion properties, it was as high as 30 feet," Houston Assistant Fire Chief Mike Mire, one of several HFD officials on the scene, said. Work crews spent hours spraying the foam with a defoaming agent. KTRK-TV ABC 13 HOUSTON Firefighters say a hoarding situation made it difficult for them to fight a house fire that killed a woman inside. The Houston Fire Department responded to the fire around 9:30 p.m. Thursday at the home in the 6700 block of Midfield Drive near Bingle Road in northwest Houston. When firefighters arrived, there was a lot of heavy smoke and flames coming from the home. When they made it inside, they found a woman dead. "HFD did experience a lot of hoarding conditions in this house to make it difficult during primary search," Capt. Sedrick Robinett said. Officials described the victim as approximately 50 years old. There was no one else inside the home, HFD said. No other injuries were reported. It wasn't immediately clear what sparked the flames. HFD Arson is working to determine the cause of the fire. KTRK-TV ABC 13 HOUSTON Fire damaged two homes in Amarillo. Around 4:10 a.m., firefighters responded to a possible structure fire in the 4900 block of Chisholm Trail. When they arrived, they found a fire burning between two homes that had begun spreading to both structures. Firefighters entered both homes and found fire in both attics. The fires were under control at 4:54 a.m. The Fire Marshal's Office ruled the cause undetermined/unintentional. KVII-TV ABC/CW+ 7 AMARILLO The Tyler Fire Department has some serious bragging rights after competing with other local first responders for a charity event. At an event on Thursday, the fire department was awarded a trophy for their efforts in the Red Kettle bell ringing campaign. "This is going to impact so many people," said Assistant Chief of Administration Michael Frost. "I believe they raised over $20,000 between all of our organizations, so that's where the true winner lies. [The trophy] is hardware, just collecting that. The true winners are the people we are helping." All funds raised go to supporting the services and programs of the Salvation Army. Along with the firefighters, participating first responders included the Smith County Sheriff's Office, Tyler Police Department and UT Health East Texas EMS/Air 1. KETK-TV NBC 56 JACKSONVILLE |

Three people died after a small plane crashed into a Clearwater, Florida, mobile home park and set homes on fire Thursday evening, the Federal Aviation Administration said Friday. The victims include one person on the aircraft and two on the ground, according to the FAA. The crash happened around 7 p.m. and firefighters worked through the night on hot spots to get to the victims. The plane was mostly in one home, Clearwater Fire Chief Scott Ehlers said. At least three homes had fire damage, Ehlers said. Aside from the home that was directly struck, the people in the other homes were able to get out, he said. The pilot of the Beechcraft Bonanza V35 had reported an engine failure before the crash, the FAA said. Rick Renner, who lives in the neighborhood, said his house shook with the impact of the plane's crash landing. NBC NEWS PHOTOS: It's known to those who served there as the "Pride of the Points."
